Why Does Orangeville Kia use CarProof®?

Orangeville Kia runs a CarProof® History Report on every vehicle we purchase regardless of its origin (trade, auction, wholesaler, lease return, rental agency, etc). Per the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) any vehicle with over $3,000 worth of claims must be disclosed. Our thinking is that any amount, no matter how small, should be disclosed because fairly significant damage can be done to a vehicle with repairs still coming in under $3,000. Plus we feel people have a right to know a vehicle's history and what they are buying. Even more than actual repair data, estimates for repairs show up in the report (CarProof® has exclusive rights to estimate info), meaning that vehicles where customers have decided to pay cash rather than use insurance still show previous data against them.

We only keep and stock vehicles with $0 in claims, that way we can be confident that there are no issues down the road, and that we are selling a brand of Pre-Owned inventory that is a step above.

In addition, CarProof's® far-reaching data collection is getting better at finding accidents and claims against rental vehicles. For years, most rental agencies self-insured their inventory, meaning that often times accidents would not show up in a vehicle's history. We run the report on every rental vehicle and back it up by using an Elcometer to measure paint depth to check for any previous paintwork (previous paintwork can be a clue to check for a previous accident).
