Competitive Warranty Comparison

Amongst others, one of Kia's distinct and most recognizable advantages is its longer and more robust 5-year, 100,000km factory comprehensive warranty (sometimes mistakenly referred to as 'bumper-to-bumper' warranty).  Of the most common competitor import brands, and when put against the likes of Honda, Toyota and Nissan, Kia's comprehensive warranty shines with an extra 2 years and/or 40,000km of coverage.  Even when held against Mazda, the warranty is an additional 2 years and/or 20,000km.  On top of higher MSRPs, to simply match Kia's warranty significant out-of-pocket expense is required.

Often times our used and pre-owned buyers find with late model, low mileage vehicles that they get a nearly new vehicle, with much of the initial depreciation already absorbed, yet still get more factory comprehensive warranty than many of our competitors.  Take, for example, a 6 month old vehicle with 12,000km. Not only would the subsequent owner save substantial money versus new, but they would still benefit from 54 months and/or 88,000km of coverage - that's an impressive 28,000km and 1 1/2 more coverage than many of our key competitors even offer with their new vehicles.

Comprehensive Limited Warranty is the portion of the warranty sometimes mistakenly referred to as 'bumper-to-bumper' coverage. This is the portion of the warranty that covers repair or replacement of any component manufactured or originally installed that is defective in material or factory workmanship, under normal use and maintenance.

Powertrain Protection is the portion of the warranty that covers repair or replacement of powertrain components (i.e. selected Engine, Transmission / Transaxle, and 4WD components), originally manufactured or installed that are defective in material or factory workmanship, under normal use and maintenance.  When sales reps at other manufacturers refer to their "5-year warranty" this is the part they are referring to, and that  can be somewhat misleading considering this only covers a portion of the vehicle.

Nobody likes interruptions to their vehicle's service, but roadside assistance is a Kia perk that is offered for 5-years (24 hours per day, 365 days per year), 2 years longer than many of our key competitors.
