For the 2023 model year, the 2nd generation Niro EV got bigger in all dimensions, dropped a few pounds, and as one review we read put it, "a whole lot cooler".
The lighter vehicle added range, and got significantly more upscale everywhere from outside appearance to inside cabin esthetics.
The trim level names changed in 2024, to align with Kia's global strategies (Premium to Wind and SX to Wave, as examples).
And, for 2025...its pretty much status quo. Specs remain unchanged. The exterior colour choices haven't altered. And, the only way to get the Audi'esque rear quarter panel blade is still (optionally) on the Wave model.
Kia Canada has aggressive plans within the growing EV market, planning to offer a number of different vehicles, across a range of sizes. For 2025, the Niro EV continues to be Kia's smallest EV option, with it's most attractive price point.
It's stylish exterior, modern interior, functional size, solid EV range (407km) and pleasant drive make it a sought-after option for drivers looking to move away from fossil fuels.
The base version, Wind, comes loaded with essential 'must-have' features and safety equipment, making it a popular option.
In some cases, the presence of a heat pump, found within the Wind+ package, is intriguing, especially for assisting with battery operation in harsher, Canadian winter temperatures.
The Wave is optimal for buyers used to amenities (ie. sunroof, leather, upgraded stereo) and looking for tech a modern, electric vehicle can offer (vehicle-to-load charging, digital key).
Like other EVs, several charging options are available, depending on availability of chargers in your area. A slower, 120V household charge is an option, as is a quicker Level 2 (240V) charge. A Fast Charger (480V), that can have the battery from 10% up to 80% in as little as 43 minutes, is the fastest way to replenish the the Niro's electric range.
Kia Canada's comprehensive warranty of 5-years and 100,000km covers the vehicle, and extra peace of mind comes from the EV component coverage up to 8 years and 150,000km (160,000km for the high voltage battery).
